"Print allows you to hold another mind in your hand," explains historian James Burke.
The human mind ticks so fast that it would be impossible to record everything thought that passes through the mind. It is possible, however, to catch a glimpse of thought. Burke had the right idea but he was much too broad in his statement. A better metaphor for the thought would be, "Print is the window through which we look into the mind." This window only allows us to look into one room of a larger building. Even with the open view of the room not everything within can be seen clearly. For instance, you could not see backside of the very wall that you are looking into. Even if there were a mirror so that you could see, the view that you would be looking at would be distorted backwards.
