Does anyone here hate children as much as I do? Lately I find myself extremely irritated by snotty, brat-faced, punk bastards that I overhear talking back to their parents as if they have nothing to fear.
I grew up in a household that wasn't super strict. My parents gave me as much freedom as I rightfully deserved. I could stay at friends houses on the weekends and I had to be in by 9pm in junior high and 10-11pm in highschool during the week. I feel that's adequate time to enjoy the things most kids do and still be in bed at a decent time to get an education the next morning.
Like I said, my parents weren't very strict, but I feared my dad. He's an intimidating guy - very nice man, but I knew that if I talked back to my mom or disrespected her, he would kick my ass. Furthermore, if I got in trouble for ignoring other figures of authority (teachers, cops, etc.), I would be grounded and possibly physically punished by a foot to my ass on the way to my room - or a "hey-you're-a-dumbass" smack to the back of the head. That's all it took to keep me pointed in the right direction.
I had friends/family who's parents didn't give a fuck about what they did. Now they're all fucking losers. I'm sure there's the odd exception, but seriously, most of them are fuckups. Most of them even claim to be perfectly normal, but it's obvious denial. If your parents don't care enough about FORCING you to graduate highschool, then I think there's a strong possibility that you haven't been raised in a manner strong enough to build "proper" social character for when you are older.
I use the term "proper" loosely here. Some people don't graduate highschool and end up being successful and "normal" people later in life - even shortly after. However, consider the following:
FACT: Out of all of my friends or relatives that are/were fucked up, sporting long lists of criminal offensives, or on their third kid at 25 years old - none of them grew up in classic disciplined (not STRICT) households.
Discipline is a factor that is no longer on the parents' agenda. Instead we have to worry about legal threats from our own children for physical punishment. I think this will be the downfall of Democracy. Sooner or later, there will be an overwhelming amount of fucked up people in our country. It will take the few moral people left (the people who know the value of discipline) to create a new Communist America - only to preserve the safety and welfare of their own families. Then what? Everyone else will be fucked.
Captain Planet isn't going to fly down and say "Hey kids, don't throw those lit cigarette butts into a trashcan."
G.I. Joes aren't going to show up every time a kid finds a gun in their parents' room, or a kid decides to start playing with matches.
Batman isn't going to stop some teenager from robbing an old woman at knife point and kick his ass while giving him a lecture in morality and responsibility.
People need to start punishing their kids again. When your kid talks back to you, you don't have to hit them, but you can sure as fuck find a way to let them know that they'll be sorry if they do it again.
This is why I hate children now. I blame the parents. Kids aren't born with the idea of respect for other and it's becoming annoying to the point that I can't even enjoy a day at the pool anymore because some little 11 year old bastard is splashing everyone within 100 feet of the pool - AND LAUGHING ABOUT IT. If this was 1950, anyone could have hit that kid with a belt and he'd never do it again.
This post was not intended to offend anyone in any way. If you grew up in a turbulent household with negligent parents, I'm sorry for you. I'm speaking my mind and sharing my observations from the past couple of years. Feel free to add your opinions.
