It twas the best of times , it twas the worst of times. Right now I cant think of any statement that rings more true. Well I have a three day weekend, much deserved. Now what to do with myself? I was thinking of taking an adventure. Sometimes I just hop in the car and start driving in a general direction. Usually just looking for some beautiful scenery, somewhere to enjoy the natural settings or whatever I come upon. Just havent given much thought to which way I might go. My friend just went back to Colorado this week. He had been out here for a month and took my last little trip with me. He was a little depressed leaving. He lived in Cali all his life, his friends are here, his baby boy is still here. I feel his pain. Hes talking about moving back. So now that hes gone either I go it alone, nothing new, or find another copilot. So whos coming with me?
Any ways I had this good dream last night. It was sorta mixed in its emotions. It started in a japanese style house. Alot of young people were sitting on the floors around these two long tables. The room was L shaped with a soft lighting and decorations, like cherryblosssoms and such on the rice paper walls. Everyone in the room was talking, doing there own thing, seemed like a school setting to me. At the head of one of the tables were some type of authority figures. I recently had lost a ring, in real life. I'm not all that worried about it, but in the dream I was frustrated and walking around the tables looking for it. One of the young guys at the table asked me "Looking for something" in whatI took to be a sarcastic tone. I responded with something like, "Whats it to yah bitch?"
He stood up, not physically intimidating but with confidence. I tensed up, ready for a fight. He stepped forward and positioned himself in a martial arts posture as which I recognize from my own training.I could tell by his poise that he knew what he was doing. He made some slight movements and I reacted prematurely. From this he was able read my obvious disadvantage and his superiority in the situation. I could see the authority figures from the corner of my eye telling us to back down. He stepped away, mockingly mimicked my attempt to defend my self, and the whole room erupted in laughter. Then he turns to me again, I still tensed and ready, him relaxed and confident. He throws a faint kick and punch and I once again react, neither of us having actually made contact. Once again he turns to the group and mocks me.
This is where I realize the lesson. All frustration and anger leaves me. I see he was the one who had control of the situation. He did not react out of anger. He was able to diffuse the conflict without volence. I was being tought Humility. When I realized this I bowed to him. Upon which, through the laughter and commotion of the room, he returned the respect and bowed to me.
