The gluttony and rush to the senses of consuning now replaces past stimulations of the primitive mind. Flavors carry both history and new experiences. They can mark events and places taveled. With a more primitive mindset this would be especially true due to a mainly constant diet. So this leads to the question of how was the primitive mind satisfied by the daily efforts. There...

When the fog is thick the trees make it rain.
tigerlily:
maybe our ancestors didn't need stimulation though...the stress of survival probably provided enough. not as easy to take life for granted when the reality of losing it was harder to pad yourself against, and any "down" time was appreciated instead of squandered by filling it up with useless activity. i totally hear ya...i think one of the reasons we consume with such addictive abandon is because we're trying to fill up this hole that's been created by a life filled with too much "bullshit" and loss of connection with our environment. houses with controlled temp., cars too, rubber-soled shoes, asphalt, t.v., computers, meaningless jobs, crap food, and so much god-damn noise...how can you not numb out?

Damn, sometimes I swear the education level of my co-workers hovers around 7th grade. I just wish bitching, whining, and bullshitting werent so contagious. Reverting to commercial catchphrases and talks about video games, television, and sports rather than conversations of substance or any emotional contact. Yet another exagerated WASSSUUUPPP puke I'm trying not to be a social imperialist or snob or whatever. Just having a hard...

Do you know what time you were born?? Just curious since we have the same birthday. I have a virgo rising. Thought it would be crazy if you did too.
kudra:
I don't have an astrology books any more, but I'm pretty sure you have an aquarius rising. That's the position of the earth when you were born. I think that's a nice mix to counteract with being a virgo. smile

What, at this moment, is lacking? whatever
Veritas
gingerlie:
substance.
clara:
I could answer that, but at the end I'd have to qualify it with, "but in the long run none of that stuff really matters." So, nothing.

One of the schools of Tlon goes as far as to negate time: it reasons that the present is indefinite, that the future has no reality other than as a present hope , that the past has no reality other than a present memory. Another school declares that all time has already transpired and that our life is only the crepuscular and no doubt falsified...

whoosh...good entry!
to add....the hopi tribe have no words for present or future.
what is YOUR belief on the nature of time?
while i'm well aware that all conjecture on my part is just that and only that, i think i believe something close-ish to the first theory. the jury's still out for me on whether or not time exists. **sits down from head spinning**

wish i had the time to give yer entry a proper good think, but housemate is kicking me off this here computor...

hey dd, thanks for the sweet response...it did cheer me up.

Finally had a chance to catch up on some sleep. I went to this little underground party on Friday night that went until sunrise. The interesting part is that it was held in a wherehouse music store. My friend manages and is responsible for doing the liquidation and shutdown thats going on. Sorta the best of times and worse of times skull There was plenty of...

Ran in the heat till I was all wet. Took a cold shower. Went to Rasputin got some good shit. Ate some Phillipino food on the way to the Giants game. Finally found a liquor store. And bonus blush found the flat tire amber ale I fell in love with while I was in Colorado. Then chased it...

What to do first? whatever I've been having the most detailed dreams lately. They unfold like short stories that have already been told and I'm a participant at times, and other times a watcher. This latest one was odd because I couldnt finish it. I would make it to what was either an end or a climax and then switch to the role of another character...

I'd like to remember my dreams. Never do, though.
mephausto:
things never seem quite right when you can't get to a satisfying point in dream excursions; i've been frustrated lately with not falling deep enough into slumber to get too lost in dreams, though it seems that over the past few months lucid dreaming has increased; i particularly enjoy switching roles, or, oddly enough, assuming both at once.

welcome.

My Uncle Don recently found out he has a "mass" in his head, no j/k. So my aunt is dropping the MRI at my house so I can take it to work. This makes sense since I work in a Hospital in SF which has some really good brain surgeons. The hope is to pass the MRI on to a doc and see what he...

re: black hole comment: oops! open mouth insert...all these little suburb towns were much cooler 20-30 years ago, but with all the homogenous corporate sprawl...that's what grosses me out. no offense.
