Train to Nowhere
In a few months time,at Stockport Station you will be able to hear the following announcement- "The train now departing from Platform Zero will be..."
Stockport station now has a platform 0, which I can honestly say I have never seen in any other station.
I was reading Joris Karl Huysman's nineteenth century tale of monastic life, "The Oblate of St Benedict", when I came across the following passage- "Madame Bavoil was fond of attending this mass, because, when communicating, she could kiss Father Abbot's ring.."
The meaning of once innocent phrases can change so much over time, although I hear choirboys are still expected to perform this penance by some Priests.
