1 Megabus
I met Caroline and Lesley in Manchester on Saturday 11 June (before the England vs Sweden game) at the lovely Chorton Street Bus Station in Manchester. I knew they were coming up on the Megabus, for which they paid the princely sum of 1 return from London to Manchester.
I arrived slightly late, but in time to see a big blue Megabus standing outside the bus station. It was an impressive looking decked vehicle, and looked as if it must have had a good toilet and drinks facilities.
Which is why I was suprised when I heard my name being shouted from above and behind me. I turned round, and was flabbergasted to see Caroline stood at the upstairs window of a DOUBLE DECKER BUS.The ordinary, bog-standard kind that most people travel a few miles in.It had of course no toilet or facilities of any kind. The heaters worked on one side of the bus and as a result, one side was roasting and the other side freezing. And this bus had travelled all the way up the motorway from London.Admittedly I have been on some dodgy buses in Lithuania, but at least they had CURTAINS.
