"Bicycle Thief", more Japanese games
On Monday, I started my Cornerhouse film course on Italian comedies. Most of the students were old wrinklies, unlike the previous courses I have attended and I was sat next to an old American who looked exactly like an archetypal Guardian Reader.
Our lecturer was Italian and was highly demonstrative and entertaining.
"Bicycle Thief" was a neo-realist film released in 1947, not a comedy. The film used no professional actors, in fact, most of the cast had no theatrical training at all. Despite that, it is a terrific, human, warm hearted film that despite its commonplace storyline and downbeat ending, was loevly to watch.
On Tuesday,Yumi made us play another game in Japanese class. A set of cards containing Hiragana symbols and popular children's toys/fictional charcters were spread on the table. When Yumi called out a character, you grabbed the card. Simple???? I am sure I came bottom in the first game merely because I was sat at the wrong side of the table, and all the characters were therefore upside down.Sort of.
Yumi also leant me a Yellow Magic Orchestra double CD.

Yeah, that nanny has something evil in her, it's like the toyboy looking version of Rebecca de Mornay's movie about that psycho nanny.
Oops. Now I'm being incorrect again.
