The Great God Idleness wins again/Soviet war songs
I had intended to go to watch Stockport vs Brentford in the third round of the FA Cup, but the mate I was due to go with decided to go up to watch Darwen take on FC United instead. I couldn't be bothered going on my own so went shopping instead. Anyway, we lost 3-2, so now we can concentrate on the League (can you can think of a better cliche,or a more ridiculous one?)
This gave me time to website hop and, inspired by an article about an exhibition of Soviet photography from the RIA Novisti archives (at the Imperial War Museum North,Manchester until June), I found this site-
Soviet War site
The site contains Soviet war photographs and MP3s of popular songs, the most famous of which is probably this one by Alexander Alexandrov called "Sacred War"- Sacred War Alexandrov wrote the Soviet National Anthem, which replaced the "Internationale" in 1944.
My favourite song however is this wonderful, ghostly atmospheric piece by Nikita Bogoslovsky, called "Dark is the Night"-
