The last time I had a snow day was in March 2003. I cleaned the house, shopped and got the computer fixed. Tuesday I got the glorious 6:45am phone call and I proceeded to make myself snacks all day long. I was interrupted once because I remembered that I have been having searing tummy aches for the past two months and I tried meekly to visit the Chinese medicine doctor down the street. He wasn't in and so I climbed over the hills of snow, back into the house, back to the snacks.
I once had a snow week when I was living in Montreal and the ice storm hit. Our heat went off and we put candles in glasses with glasses of water on top - in the hopes of making tea. We lay in bed and ate what was left of our food, namely butter. Going to the convenience store lit up by candles, I watched wax drip onto the crackers. Nights were dark and beautiful without streetlights. Have I mentioned this before? If I have - you know it is important.
