Isn't it weird that on Star Trek, humans have all this crazy advanced technology and as long as you're not an ensign, you're practically invincible.

And yet they still listen to Jazz music... What, in the next few hundred years, nothing new will come along? Even after you mix in all the alien cultures we get exposed to?

Those producers have some seriously low standards for human cultural advancement compared to human technological advancement.
