Today was a strange day...
Long story short, as a lot of you may know, some months ago my wife decided it was best to move back to her hometown in Canada. We both decided it would be best for us to split up. So I took today off of work so that my mother in law and I could go file the divorce paperwork. Not really one of the more enjoyable experiences in my life, nor the way our marriage would have ideally worked out, but something that needed to be done for both our sakes nonetheless.
The woman at the courthouse explained to me that it usually takes about 90 days for the judge to go through the paperwork and do whatever he/she has to do. And that since ours was a simplified divorce (we don't own anything together or have children) neither of us would need to appear for anything. She also explained that it would most likely actually take around 4 months for it all to be taken care of, seeing as though there are around 900 cases ahead of ours.
I suppose this is simply the end of one chapter and the beginning of another in each of our lives, as it were. I'm excited to see what the future holds, as cliche as that sounds, and I feel like this will be a weight off both of our shoulders. It comes with mixed emotions, however, considering we didn't end on bad terms, if that makes sense.
Anyway, if you read this, I very much appreciate it. I felt the need to sort of vent on the subject and it's nice to know when it reaches someone.
Much love to you all ❤
