Today I was in a hair competition at school. Actually it wasn't at my school, we had to take a real field trip to another school. I went for a fairly easy category: mannequin cut & color.

The thing is, we weren't allowed to use any electricity. No blow dryers, no curlers, etc. So after the cut (the color was done beforehand), we had to do a wet style and be done with it. I was very pleased with the turnout.

And then I got this:




The thing that upset me a little was that it was supposed to be judged visually only, no touching. And they totally went through and touched it. I mean, the cut was perfect so I don't mind that they checked it, but as you can see in the "after" picture, they messed the style all up. Even my teacher noticed and said something about it. Maybe it kept me from placing higher, but I'm still pretty excited about my 3rd place bronze medal.

In other cosmetology related news, I take my state board theory test on Wednesday. I have to drive for an hour to take a 10-minute test. I know I'll pass it, but I'd love to get 100. So there's that. Wish me luck!

EDITED TO ADD: I got a 93 on the test!
