One of the things I will miss about Michigan are the storms. There are some spectacular thunderstorms here. I've never experienced any damage from them, but if you read the news a bit you will see that some people unfortunately have. I just look at the clouds.
These pictures were taken on the way to the grocery store yesterday about 1/2 mile from our apartment with my super amazing phone cam.
That cloud in the second picture literally went on for about 20 miles. You can see the definite line between light and dark, which followed it the whole way.
Once again the rain cooperated with us to only sprinkle while I took the 2nd picture in the Meijer parking lot (the first one was taken from the car), but I decided not to tempt fate by taking more.
In other news, oninotaki came to hang out with me and Jhay last night (after the storm). We stayed up til 5am drinking and playing Nintendo. At some point there was a drunken walk to the aforementioned grocery store.
This picture was taken at some point during the night. Oninotaki really liked my monster hat (which didn't quite fit him) and then pulled me into the picture at the last second.

I had another time I was even closer to a lightning strike. It was ages ago when I still lived with my parents and they lived in a mobile home. My dad was playing around with short wave radios at that time and had a 40 foot antenna sticking up from the side of the house. The wall it was attached to was from my bedroom. In the middle of the night we had a bolt hit the antenna. The whole place shook like an etch-a-sketch being erased. Woke up pretty quickly let me tell you. lol
The next morning I looked at the antenna and you could see burn and scorch marks when it was grounded. The antenna was about 3 feet from the foot of my bed.
