Yesterday was the Motor City Tattoo Expo. It was here, at the Detroit Marriott, in the RenCen:
There were tons of people there, a lot of whom were getting new ink. I unfortunately was not one of those people. If someone had been like "I'm bored, want a free tattoo?" Then I would now have the triforce on my arm. But alas and alack, that did not happen. Though I decided that maybe I'll get a thigh piece done someday.
I took some pictures of the crowd, but they did not turn out well. That's mostly because I was taking them as a cover for taking pictures of an on-duty cop getting tattooed. He still had his weapon belt on, complete with gun, billy club, handcuffs, etc. Sadly, those pictures did not turn out either.
I did get to meet a few people though. Vivid was there, though she was meeting someone so we only got to chat for a minute. Durb was there working, and if he hadn't been so busy tattooing people, maybe I would have gotten my tattoo from him. Someday. (Maybe at Hell City?) He did like my flower tattoo, so we chatted about that for a bit. It always makes me happy when other artists appreciate my tattoos. But I did get a picture with him. He's a lot taller than me.
And because wherever Durb goes, AlissaBrunelli goes too, I got meet her as well. Though she is a very busy bee, so our encounter was very brief. But I did get to meet fellow hopeful Stori, and she is super awesome. I didn't get a picture with her, but we'll hopefully see each other again. (Right, Stori?)
We took a break from wandering around to have a coupla drinks at the hotel bar. I introduced at least 2 people to the wonder that is rum & pineapple, and there was much rejoicing. I also met a really cool non-SG person that doesn't actually live too far from me. I would have liked to hang out with her more too.
When we went back into the Expo, we passed directly in front of the contest registration booth. We had arrived too late to enter the contests, but the guy running the show wanted a picture of my flowers anyway. Between that guy, and Durb, and the other random people giving me compliments (including one lady who wasn't even with the expo - an outsider!), I was feeling very proud of my flowers.
After all the contests, and a magic show, a band went on stage. I didn't catch their name, but I did catch the offer for a lady to flash her boobies and get 2 free t-shirts. There were no takers, so I stepped up. All I had to do was flash the band, and I got free stuff. No biggie. I mean, y'all see much more than they did, and I get no free t-shirts from you. Maybe you should be buying me presents? Anyway, here are the shirts I "won" :
I'm pretty excited about the Hell City one, and not only because it's the one that fits me.
After that, we decided to go home. Though I did want to stick around and meet the other SGs that we're showing up later, the doggie would be needing to go outside. But it was a fun time.
