Last night was the SG Detroit "holiday extravaganza." We met at the Woodard Avenue Brewery, which *I* suggested btw, and stayed there for about 5 hours. Let's see if I can remember all the fun people that were there.
me (duh), Jhay, SYH, easy2cy, MetalEric, Margate, RhanaRose, Oninotaki and 2 of his non-SG buddies that were still cool, mytinfoiltiara, and Raymond_K_Hessel. (That list is almost exactly the order in which we were sitting around the makeshift giant table because that's how I could be sure I got everyone.)
Most of them were new to me -though technically I'm the newbie in the group still - but I think we all got along famously. Lots of entertaining stories were told and fun was had. However, the real story begins after the group broke up. Some went home, some had "other parties" to go to (maybe ), but Jhay, me SYH, and Margate decided to keep hanging out. We walked more than a block to a bar that was having live music. We didn't have to pay the cover because we weren't there for the music, which is good because both bands turned out to be really really bad. We had a few drinks, and it came up that both boys had sharpees. We had been talking about tattoos (because I think that's all I ever talk about) and so the natural connection between sharpees and tattoos was made. I decided to go for a tramp stamp, and since those are the classiest thing ever, I made it say "classy bitch." Margate was nice enough to do my ink for me. We didn't have any real cameras, so phone cams had to suffice.
Here's mine the next morning, taken with a real camera.
And because Margate and I are now BFFs, she had to get a matching one.
As I was drawing hers, a random bar patron yelled out "draw a happy face" and I was really tempted to, but held back. We were kinda the big hits at the moment because as I mentioned before, the bands sucked big monkey balls. As soon as we finished our tattoos, the radio came on and "Black Betty" was the first song played. It totally matched our new ink, so Margate and I went to dance on the non-dance floor. After that excitement, we played a few games of pool, boys vs. girls. The girls totally won the last 2 games, with yours truly making some awesome game winning shots (thanks to my teammate's awesome coaching).
By then the bar was closing, so we needed to move on. The folks at the bar were nice enough to let us finish our game though. I was hungry because all I'd eaten at the WAB were pretzels dipped in assorted mustards, which were delicious but not dinner. The others were hungry too, so we headed over to the diner where RahRah works and bugged her for some tasty eats. By then it was past 3am, so it was definitely time for sleep.
So all of you that missed the SG Detroit meetup, shame on you. I don't care if you don't live here, you should have made the trek. And for those of you that came out but left before we four, now you know the fun times you missed.
