I've been tagged in this by the astounding @RaineDemure
1. How was your Thanksgiving and what are you thankful for?
My Thanksgiving was mediocre and uneventful, which is how I like my holidays. I think people stress too much over this stuff, get their expectations too high, and put too much pressure on themselves, and for what? To please some relatives that were going to be happy or not regardless of what you do? Stop it. The people who aren't happy just to see you will never be won over by the three ring circus happening in your kitchen. As for what I'm thankful for, well that's easy. I'm thankful for my kid, my fam, and all the little weirdos that have become my social network.
2. Who's putting up a Christmas tree 🎄?
Maybe. I have this thing of resorting to smaller and smaller trees. When I lived in Duluth, I had one of those sad little Charlie Brown Christmas Trees. Last year, I found a small LEGO set of a Christmas Tree. If I can find it, or find an even smaller tree, then I'll put up a tree this year.
3. Do you have any family tradition for Thanksgiving and Christmas?
My traditions are focused on spending time with the kid, opening presents, eating food, and probably watching Die Hard.
4. Your best advice?
Fail. Fail spectacularly if you can. If you live to tell the tale, make it a learning experience. Find out what went wrong, what you can do better, and keep doing things, even if you aren't good at them. The good news is it only takes a few thousand tries to get as good as any professional, and the bad news is you'll always feel like a failure even if you're the best in the business. Embrace disaster and enjoy the ride.
5. Do you have any holiday charities you donate to?
My left and right pocket.
6. Your favorite Christmas song?
Die Hard by Guyz Nite (If Die Hard's a Christmas movie, and it is, than that's a Christmas Carol, fight me)
7. Your best Christmas present, your choices given or received?
My son was born five days after Christmas. He's the coolest person I know, so that just beats out the Gameboy Advance I got from my mom when I was a kid.
8. Do you have your Christmas shopping done?
Gift cards and digital purchases, no.
9. Fun question something you enjoy during the Holidays?
Watching Die Hard, duh.
10. Do you have plans for New Years eve?
Lay low and hope 2024 finally sees an end to the curse... I mean, probably rewatch Die Hard
11. Your goals for the new year 2024?
Oh, I got a few. I want to finish the weird little game project I've been tinkering on. It's coming along, but no way I'll be done this month. I also need to prepare for what's coming next.
12. Your New Years resolution?
Launch my serious endeavor to lose weight and get fit. I wanna be studly when I move. There's gonna be people, and hotties. Gotta look good for the day that happens.
13. Your favorite hobbies?
Gaming, watching movies, building stuff, writing code, photography, making art. Is being weird a hobby? Being weird. Magic tricks.
14. Do you do Christmas cards?
No. I will forget somebody, and I'd rather just forget everybody. Besides, I can just tell people "Yo, Merry fuckin' Christmas" on any number of social media platforms and it will have the same effect. I remember you during this holiday, congrats.
15. Share anything you want from your past holiday's?
One good and one bad!
Good - My son was born shortly after Christmas. That was awesome.
Bad - Immediately after New Year, a week after my son's birth, I got shit-canned from my manager job at Kmart where I had just spent the holiday season selling out their disasterous backlog of toys and fixing that whole department's issues, and being generally the most awesome employee they had. So, ya know, fuck those guys.
NOW I TAG PEEPS TO ALSO DO THIS... Who hasn't done this yet? YOU, reading this right now, I CHOOSE YOU.
