You know, I've straightened my hair ever since middle school when people made comments about how fluffy it is. My hair does not react well to chemicals and heat. It gets angry and split ends pop up the second the iron passes over it. Well, I went to a proper salon and got the manager to tell me how to keep my wavy hair naturally wavy and not the fluffy mess it usually is. She told me three key things:
1. do not wash it too much
2. do not brush it ever when it is dry
3. always use curl products
And, now, due to her great hair wisdom, I am loving my naturally wavy hair! Lordy lordy, I love it. I feel like my black friends on facebook who rave about their natural hair and being free from relaxers. I LOVE my natural hair! And you know what? I think I look damn sexy with my real hair and I feel confident and playful!
In other news, I got asked out to lunch by an elderly patient of mine (dad age). I sort of played along, thinking he was just sort of playing around, but he said he was totally serious. when are you off? when can i pick you up? how do i call you? I don't like crossing the professional relationship line... most of my patients are.... whacko. So i like to keep my distance once the clock ticks 9 pm. im not sure how to react. god, i hope he doesn't call me.

I know at least a few of the girls I went to school with have been asked out by older male customers at the pharmacy. That put them into a very weird, awkward situation - like you said it's strange and isn't a good idea for many reasons. I think the best you can do is take it at face value as a compliment and hope he doesn't end up bothering you in the future about it.

"richard smith" (or w/e his name is, hipaa and all that jazz)
"ohhhhhh"
"so i wanted to know when we can go out? how about an early dinner tonight?"
"um, well, its actually against company policy, and though i am flattered, i would get fired, sorry"
"oh... ok. ok, then, bye."
it was really awkward. i hate being mean, but cmon!
