I had a good New Year's Eve. Probably on eof the best in recent memory because I didn't go out. At all. I can't believe I never thought of that before.

We got some delicious wood-fired pizzas, got drunk, played scrabble, and watched an entire season of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia", which I now realize is one of the funniest shows of all time....

I know, it's funny to say blogging sometimes. They have won, though...it's so universal now.

This blog of mine is totally delicious.

There's something crazy about NY bagels. So much variety, the amazing fresh baked smells and how the flavors' smells waft through a building or house. Next time you go grocery shopping, see if you have Ray's bagels in the freezer section, in flavor everything. It's the closest to NY you'll get- very yummy.

Doubt you'll ever see this but the sentiment is there nonetheless.

Happy Birthday, Stinky. Wish we had stayed in touch. Hope things are well.

A new... thingy

I've been starting to work in the office. It's been a bit better I suppose. I was sick of working in an office as of a few years ago when that's what I was doing mostly. I guess I'm ready for a change. Or an un-change. Either way, the people I work with now are far more reasonable than most I've worked...

It's hailing today.
A friend from work took his own life this weekend. It's been really hard on everyone.
I think we're going to do some sort of tribute for him. I really wish we could do something to let him know that we care and we miss him.
But we can't, because he's gone.

Oh I just caught your comment...yeah. This has really brightened me. I just wish I could place her face...imagine that? Affecting somebody so much and you don't even know what the person looks like? Oh well. frown
jena:
Well at least there's a silver lining, no?

I look forward to the cool weather. I'm heading to NY (no I'm not down for the count out here!) for Xmas/New Years and I have to buy a coat! Lord knows I have nothing here. I love the feeling of putting on a soft hoodie sweater, you know? Maybe it's akin to fresh baked bread. wink

Lord I am not down yet...I need to break free from Florida. So_damn_boring. Oh well. Must make the best for now.

We've been moving. It's nice to be in a new place, it's set up so much nicer than the last place. It'll be a big change I think. I mean, I'm not some trophy wife so it's still pretty tiny by modern standars (I think) but I can't wait to be officially here.
Moving still sucks. Especially, since I seem to have at least twice...

Thanks for asking- I've been depressed and randomly weepy. I think I was like, ok, but then my ex fiance tried to get back in touch with me but then he just vanished and I've felt very weepy and shit on. To summarize lightly. frown

I know how you feel about the construction- my house has been under construction for months. It seems handmen don't like to wike expediously, do they? But do you like the new place?

I don't want to update either. However I feel that my entry is so hilaious (if you haven't seen the movie, it sucks, though) that I don't want to change it and I just don't have anything prepared to leave up for another spell. I just don't wanna.
thejuanupsman:
Long time no update. I was thinking of you yesterday. I guess wondering how you were doing because the day hit me kind of hard. Hope all is well. I know we never seemed to be able to find a time to make it work before, but if you ever want to get together and grab a drink or a meal and talk, I'd be up for that.

I need to watch Raw again soon. The whole bit about Dexter the your-girlfriend fucker is on repeat in my head.
jena:
Thank you for bringing this up...I just love him in that. I Loooooove when he asks her to marry him and the "This isn't really a tax issue, is it?" and then when Pagoda goes and tells Royal "The black man ask her to be his wife." Oh boy. I wish Henry was my father.

Did you see the pictures of the Ronson siblings dressed as the Tenenbaum childen?

Oh how hard it is to update you, journal.

Last weekend we took a tour of the Summit brewery in St Paul. I had never been. It was slightly disapointing. It was very brief and chocked full of white hats who were just there for the beer, but none the less fairly cool. Certainly better than anything else I would be doing at 10:30 on...

Yeah, we moved here from the Camden are of north Minneapolis a little over a year ago. Overall I like it, but I would prefer to be closer to the city.

I used to ride all the way from Hopkins to the Energy park area of St. Paul 3-5 times a week, but now that I am working at home again I rarely ride in to the city. When I do it is usually just to the uptown area which really isn't that far.

Snelling can be a pain. I tried to avoid it when I could. Although when I went to Hamline (almost 20 years ago) I rode down snelling for a few miles everyday. Wasn't quite as busy back then though.

I have not seen it yet. I promised Strega I would see it with her and we have not managed to fit it around her busy schedule yet. I have a feeling we may end up seeing it on video. tongue
jena:
Are you saying you're looking forward to breeding? Maybe I misread that.

I too am am shocked that Chappelle has been sticking to his word. Stranger things have happened and I do hope he'll make a comeback.

Eddie Murphy had included fucked up baby names in his stand up in his glory days. He accused black women of seriously just looking at a box of cereal and naming their kids after it. It was amazing; my description is shit.

How's the weather over there? (don't I always ask that tongue )

I'm always a bit behind when it comes to movies and pop culture etc. Mostly because I'm cheap.

That being so, I just saw "No Country For Old Men". It was really really really good.
Lke, really good. And I can't find a damn person who wants to talk about it. It's like trying to find someone to talk about who shot Mr. Burns

Anyways,...

i want to see that movie
thejuanupsman:
Hey, thanks. I really do appreciate it. Never underestimate the healing effects of kind words and empathy.

I still have not seen that movie. I've heard good things but just have not gotten around to it. I'll have to make an effort to see it.

I did however read that book you referenced. Which if I remember right led to a great deal of teasing/taunting by my peers. Assholes.

I have mixed feelings about the rain. I love riding in a good downpour. Love it. However, since the bike is my primary transportation it can suck if it rains when I am on my way someplace other than home. Wet clothes suck.

So it looks like Krispy Kreme closed up shop and pulled out of Minnesota. That was pretty much what I had planned for my Sunday.

What the fuck is going on when a man can't get a hot, soft, freshly glazed, doughnut anywhere in America?

jena:
Awww, thank you for loving my drawing! eeek I love that thing...there's more to it but I'm no photographer. Eventually I'll send you a photocopy once I find one of those antique machines. Swear!

I was talking A LOT about Krispy Kreme over the weekend. My grandmother was in town and she's kind of a "Debbie Downer"...everything sucks to her and we kind of dread her company for this reason. So I was telling everyone over and over the "Krispy Kreme incident" story with grandma, as one of my lasting nightmares of her. She just wouldn't shut up about how they're too small, they're not this, that, and the price is "highway robbery" and "I don't know how they make a dime", just on and on and on about what bastards KK are and how much they suck. Dude it sucked to listen to.

My condolences for your loss.
jena:
I have to work on finding a copy machine. Promise when I do. smile I know, I save little hand drawings too. I like crude ones. There's something endearing about them.

Do you have funny grandparents? I have one who is addicted to coffee (at 85). He gets up, waits for Nanny to make him a cup, then harasses his daughter for one, then goes across to the gas station to grub one, then he hits the bank. Every day.

Vacation has been good. I enjoyed, thank you. Now I'm planning to go stay with my mother in Florida for a while, extended vacation.

How have you been doing? If it's any consolation of KK going, McDonalds makes better coffee than Dunkin Donuts, if you dare. I'm considering running over there for breakfast today.

Hope you are well.

My ol' lady is out of town for the weekend. Gone down Florida way. Joke's on her though, there's snow in the forecast this weekend, and she's gonna miss it!
And thus begins the weeknd of porn, crapping with the door open, and playing music in a loud and annoying fashion.

Here is a filmed recreation of what this will most likely look like in...

I quit two weeks ago. My boss was being increasingly difficult and unreasonable and I had enough of his antics during staff meetings, where he got into the habit of publicly blaming staff for things that were not their job. That, and 55 hour weeks on salary, getting my job description and duties changed without notice or compensation, and having hours involuntarily added to my schedule without compensation, was enough.

It's a shame, really. I liked the guys I worked with and was good at my job, but a shitty boss can ruin even the best gig.
thejuanupsman:
Things are relatively good. All things considered. Uneventful but in a good way.

That was not the video I would have expected.

Did some good old fashioned grilling today at the park right down the road. I was awesome weather for the first time this season. I'm already dreading the heat but it's nice as fuck right now.
I'm starting to really get excited to do some camping this summer. It's been way too long since I've been camping.

I thought the spoiler was going to be that picture of me making love on that chicken. thanks for not posting that.
