OMG!! The coolest thing to happen ever!!!! My jazz band made a jazz festival in New York called Essentially Ellington in May!! I'm sooooooooo fucking excited!! We were one of the 15 bands in the US to make it out of like 150+ bands that auditioned! So this is incredibly excited new for good ol' MTHS. I guess the rest of this year won't be so bad after all. I just need to keep my grades up and stuff so I can go to New York in May, and Europe in June!! YAY! Life is good!

SO here is my story. 4 years ago, when I was going back to college after a little lay off, a buddy of mine said hey join the marching band. I was thinking to myself that would be pretty geeky and besides I have never played an instrument, can't read music and never marched, but my friend said that they would teach me, so being the person that wants to try all life has to offer I joined. I tried out for the Drumline, because I always thought drummers were the shit, besides drums looked bad-ass. Well, somehow I made the line beating out countless people. So for the past four years I have played cymbals for the University of Minnesota Marching Band and Mens Hockey Pep Band. I also have been a bass drum alternate for the past 2 years. Can play snare ok, but that is well beyond my ability and haven't even meaningfully tried tenors or set. But hey, I made a Big Ten college drumline after never playing anything in my life and have had my picture in countless newspapers around the country and am up on the walls in resturants and offices around campus here, so I'm pretty pround of that. I guess attitude and being photogenic goes a long way.
But unless our hockey team makes the Frozen Four I have played my last game as a drummer last Friday. That's pretty sad for me. I now play bass guitar that I am teaching myself and getting fairly good, but I still can't read music
BTW, beach sex...great fantasy!
