Most of my motivation in moving is similar to yours. I tried to move for grad school, but I got a good scholarship and got sucked back in. it's like i can't leave New England! I drank out of Poe's fountain. Myth has it I will die in Providence as a result. All the more reason to leave.

I am seriously looking into Austin Texas. Now that I have friends who have moved out there I really have no excuse. I'll admit, starting up a new network of friends is the thing I am the most nervous about.
