My grandmother died yesterday. Don't worry this is not real sad.
Grandma was 96 years old. She had 5 sons, 13 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren. She married grandpa and had her oldest son when she was age 16.
Out of all of those descendants, only 1 person was not alive when she died and that was my father. My father died when he was 54 and she was 90.
She was married to my grandfather for over 70 years at the time of his death. Towards the end they couldn't say a kind word to one another and had seperate bedrooms and all. But she cried daily for him after he passed.
But I would say she had a great life and was very lucky. That's a relatively small amount of tragedy for one lifetime with all of the people that lose family members to war, accidents, cancer, etc. Not that she didn't have some sad times ard hard times like everyone else.
Her favorite drink was Southern Comfort. She also liked grasshoppers (made with Creme de Menthe).
She was a great cook, loved us all completely and equally, etc.
Her name was Juanita even though she had no spanish heritage. I never heard the story on that one. maybe I'll find out this weekend at the funeral stuff.
I love you Grandma!
