the fine art of nicking...
Following is a page from a calendar proof from a medicine company in the late 1800's....1898 to be pricise per the date on the back...it is from Edward Gorey's personal art collection and goes up for sale in October (on the 6th at the Gorey House)
clearly Gorey nicked this from the artist, L. Crucious for the Vinegar Works slip cover...and Tim Burton in turn nicked it from Gorey in "Corpse Bride"....so from when did Crucious get his inspiration? Perhaps Bruegel...
enjoy
