Flowery descriptions infuriate me. I'm reading this book for my Medieval Spain called "The Ornament of the World," and though it contains good historical information, the women who wrote it gets her poetry on. She's a huge arabophile, and gushes volumes about anything that the Arab (and Berber!) conquerors did, built, wrote, pissed on in the Iberian Peninsula. What is wrong with concise sentences and phrases?!!? In one sentence she had six (I shit you not) SIX commas! Good grief. People who have delusions of being poetic ( especially when they clearly have NO talent) should be sent to some kind of deathcamp of editing. Much like Southpark's deathcamp of tolerance.
