So the Drum, Dance, and Didgeridoo Festival last weekend was a fucking blast! Belly dancers, fire dancers, our band, our friends in Sol Jibe, the Jave Djembe band, and more and more and more. By evening, Wingfield park was full of people. [The head count at 6pm was 3500! ] I should have taken pictures, but I was too fucking busy (and having too much...

Thunderstorms today. The scent of sagebrush after a rainstorm has to be one of the best smells in the world: sweet, like a honey perfume.
shivasshakti:
I miss the thunderstorms out west! That's the best smell ever. I thought I wanted to bottle it and use it as perfume, but that would take away the special-ness of it all, I think.
Yeah, yeah, I know. I've been bad and not posted anything for two months. It's because I've been a busy little insect. My bands, 3-17 and Slow Djinn Fez continue to play around Reno. I seem to be averaging at least a couple of shows a month lately. If you're a local, or just happen to be passing by, I hope you'll try to catch...

You are far too kind! Thank you so much! And I will keep it up 'til 999 - but as soon as I hit 1000, it's game on! Just kidding...kind of. I've learned that there's a lot more to the world than I ever noticed before...like, say, everything! It's almost like being a kid again.
How's the music been going? And are you enjoying the weather? I can't get enough of it!

I might be there on Saturday. I have quite a few engagements pressing and it is TR's birthday as well.
The weekend trip to St. Louis was quite successful. At the Fleadh Cheoil I took a first place on hammered dulcimer (in the miscellaneous instruments category) and a second place on mandolin. Consequently, I'll be going to Ireland again this August, for the Irish National Music Festival (Fleadh Cheoil na h'Eireann).
I also got to watch a Cardinals game, and I spent an...

There might be a small hitch in my ability to be present at your Satellite show. I just might be going down to Davis to shoot some video of another band, Royal Bliss. We shall see how it goes later today.
On Thursday I fly off to St. Louis to play this weekend in an Irish music competition --- a Fleadh Cheoil. I've been looking forward to it, but I still have to pack, and I have some bills to take care of before I go. I figure I'll take off from work early tomorrow, so I can get everything done.
Wish me luck!

Wow, Japanese? That's awesome! I know people who speak French, Spanish, Italian, etc....but no Japanese!
And green is a very good choice.
And congratulations on your victories! God, Ireland will be so fun!!

Met muirtach last night to hear the Mathematicians play up in Truckee. They are a mathematically themed alternative/punk/hip-hop/electronica rock band. Sort of. They are quite chaotic, in any case, so I wholeheartedly approve of and recommend them. A good show, but the club was a little too crowded.
Afterwards, on the way to Incline to crash at my folk's place, I noticed that my friends...

Ah well I'd prefer to get a job somewhere closer to home but thank you very much! I'm hoping that maybe I can get a job at ShopKo. I'm also holding out for Blockbuster once my birthday comes around. We should hang out sometime since I've still got nothing much to do. LOVE
The day before yesterday (i.e. Tuesday), we in Slow Djinn Fez played a gig at the Liquid Lounge here in Reno. I'll tell ya again: it's a hard job playing while a belly-dancer shimmies her belly right in front of you, but somebody's gotta do it (and it might as well be me)!
Then last night, I went back to the Liquid Lounge to hear...

As ana aside I must slap your hand upon our next encounter. If you care to know why just take a moment to reread the testemonial you left me once upon a time. GuiNess? My dear, dear, dear sir. I am almost ashamed to know you.

Our gig at Napper Tandy's went pretty well. A number of friends were there, including muirtach and Tonya, but not including nvgoddess, who probably has some silly excuse like still being in Jacksonville and not in Reno. Well, Jeez! As if having to fly across country were a legitimate reason for not coming to a pub night!
Afterwards, went out with muirtach and Tonya...

Tuesday before last (3/15), played a gig at the Eldorado. It was a fund-raiser for the American Lung association, combined with an 85th-birthday party for one of our local bigwigs.
Thursday (3/17) met muirtach and Tonya for a Saint Paddy's pub crawl. 'Twas not bad, though a bit chill: we hit Rapscallion and Mr. O's (for corned beef, cabbage and carrots, as well...

Peculiar, I thought I was just hoarse from the concert but last night Tonya mentioned that she was feeling a bit scratchy too.
I like the new name. It took a second as I was thinking,"that's not when the rebellion started", but it's a good one.

And yes, I totally got married! I'm in Florida at the moment, but my husband and I are moving back to Reno at the end of September (knock on wood - assuming his job works out). I can't wait - I miss me some west coast!
