Last week started out with a road-trip to hell, as the car I was driving (my Dad's old jeep) broke down coming off the Bay Bridge into San Francisco. I coasted down the 5th Street offramp, then stewed for 3 hours
while AAA and Caltrans sorted out who would tow me first. Several SF street people were friendly, concerned, and tried (not too effectively) to help,
and the tow truck drivers who finally showed up were both quite helpful.
But Jeez, that was not the way I wanted to start my week!
But, as they say, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. I had a couple of very fine dinners in the restaurants of Cow Hollow, and Tuesday evening played a bit of music over at the Plough and Stars. With a U-Haul pickup, I managed to get the musical equipment I was carrying over to the shop for repairs (the purpose of the trip). Then, with the Jeep fixed (new water pump and thermostat), I slogged through Thanksgiving traffic back up over the Sierra to a Wednesday evening Thanksgiving dinner at my Mom and Dad's. The trip could have been better, but I suppose (shudder) that it also could have been worse.
