I sent that music composition I'm working on down to an old band-mate, and he somehow filtered the cello and organ tracks and made them sound much better, plus he added a base track and mixed up the rhythm tracks in a good way. But he also added too much of a machine-gun stutter to the rhythm tracks, and that gets old fast.
I keep getting enthusiastic reactions to the new music I'm writing. While that is gratifying, it is also forcing me to get up off my ass and finish the piece. <Sigh> I suppose I should go and work on it some more, now...
New Year's resolution: visit this site and blog at least once a week.
So here's a start: Although this year is the last year in the Mayan calendar cycle, it feels very much more like a beginning for me than an end. I think this is going to be a very good year. I won't even mention all the things I'm leaving behind, because to...

Occupy Oakland and Occupy San Francisco are picking up steam. Went down to Occupy SF last weekend; hung out a bit and bought some food supplies for the occupiers in front of the Federal Reserve. Need to find some quiet time this weekend to figure out how I can best use my mad science skills for the cause.
Working in the music studio this morning. Laid down a bouzouki track and mixed it in with the rhythms. Not quite what I want yet, but it does give me ideas where to go with this, and what I'm hearing already sounds pretty awesome!
Set up my new iMac! Not too much connected to it yet, and I still have to migrate my music collection from my old machine, but I already like it a lot.

To migrate some of my data, I have both computers running right now. Compared to Snow Leopard, Windows XP resembles a crippled geriatric yak: Old, ugly, and lame. And about to become Leopard lunch.
Camille Paglia recently wrote an op-ed piece : "No Sex Please, We're Middle Class" for the New York Times. It pretty-well sums up the state of American sexuality (or lack thereof) today, and provides yet more evidence that Suicide Girls are a good thing.

This month I moved from Daly City to Lafayette, both near San Francisco. Love the new house but there are still many boxes to be unpacked. Meanwhile, found time somehow to go to the Folsom Street Fair with my girlfriend (on her birthday). And to the Burning Man decompression. Who needs sleep, anyway?
mneylu:
Are you going to BM again this year?
drchaos:
Yes!! Need to buy a ticket though. Next blog post has some pics from last two years.
