So...as mentioned in my last blog and apology to @rambo @missy and @lyxzen for being so far behind with my @bloghomework .. Needless to say I've had a VERY long time to contemplate what exactly has been my best day ever..Now I'm sure there are quick and easy ways to respond to this question and idea but at this point you guys may have guessed..that's not really my style
Let's start off with the fact that I'm a pretty happy card carrying member of club YOLO and truly do personally feel, if you can narrow it all down to one day you might not be living life to its fullest..Again..that's my opinion and I'm sure there are plenty of people who may disagree and that's cool..As many of you know at this point I have a beyond amazing ten year old daughter, Anderson..who is truly why I exist and no one can ever take that day she was born away from me..I know those of you who have had kids know exactly what I'm talking about..I mean look at her..she is a brand new adventure everyday.
But guess what? Life did in fact exist before that glorious snowy day in January of 2006. Now this took a little bit of time to both remember back through all the years and misadventures to come up with another singular event because come on..there are so many we experience..I mean the onset of my Bittersweet Love Story definitely another one..Getting accepted to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and moving my life up here was a pretty pivotal day as well..Stepping off the plane in London beginning a 30 day backpacking trek around Europe also amazing..Later in life after having Anderson, noteworthy days include receiving a Masters Degree, interviewing Beach House, sitting down at Fiona Apple's piano, onstage for Lollapalooza, reality tv auditions and more recently witnessing the US Women's Soccer team winning the World Cup..
Are you still with me? So let's get to the best day ever I've had since I started shooting with Suicide Girls back in the early fall of last year. Last week I had a last minute trip come up down to Austin for the annual music conference SXSW..I had the opportunity to shoot with a few of the lovely Austin hopefuls @eminence @chalk and @atm0sphere as well as meet another fellow SG photographer hopeful @thump3r and had an amazing time will definitely be retuning in the near future to coordinate something more SG oriented with @thump3r ..
Anyway, that day alone another notable one, but what made this trip extraordinary was the fact that I got to spend three amazing days with the super awesome and absolutely gorgeous @milloux (I'm still blushing with excitement..haha) and her cohorts of her band, Winona who were down in Austin popping their own SXSW cherry. It was so fun getting to catch a few of their shows and get to experience their band's first time in Austin with them..
(This was shot before their first SXSW show)
I'm not even at the best part yet, my last day in town once we all got checked out of the killer Airbnb we headed into town to partake in some of the early festivities and celebrate St Patty's Day with the appropriate libations (thank you Jameson) After that and a brief diversion we headed down to this well publicized creek that everyone had been raving about all week to dip our toes in since the sun was finally making an appearance and wait for it..shoot a set together..You guessed it..main idea of this long drawn out story..I had the great pleasure in my brief time since starting to shoot sets for SG, to shoot a set for the insert your Mad Lib adjective here _________________ @milloux and it was pretty amazing..Everything properly aligned and I'm so excited to go through and it together the final set and share it with the rest of you..I'm still pretty beside myself that I had such an opportunity not to mention all the great things I've learned this week..if you ever get a chance to spend time with @milloux she's a super sweet amazing person and I wish she were closer because she's super rad to hang with and I can't wait til we get to do it again ❤️❤️
Now, you would think my day would end there but it just got better..Afterwards we headed straight to the venue so Winona could load in and play a killer set for a SXSW crowd..Not to mention some bomb brisket and pulled pork tacos..
It being my last night in Austin, the festivities continued we made a pitstop by the foodie food truck court and had these killer lobster grilled cheese sandwiches...
(Sorry..I was still too mesmorized by my SX companion to take an actual pic of my sandwich..but she was ordering hers)
before heading over to the ATO Records showcase where I had my mind melted by this group of wild younglings out of Baltimore, Sun Club. It was like an explosion of happiness in my brain and reminded me of why I spent so long working in the music industry for so little.
We meandered through Austin the rest of the night stopping by a house party before ultimately crashing hard in bandmate Sean's Uber ready ride who was so kind enough to taxi me in the morning to the airport for my flight out..But man..what a day❤️❤️
I knew it was gonna be along one..soo..tell me what's the best day of your life so far?
