What Part of "My Day Off" Went Over Your Fucking Head?
There are no more magical words in the human language than "My Day Off". Its different for everyone, but everybody treasures them equally. Some people like to travel, some people like to party. I want to get out of bed about noon, maybe spend most of the day reading comics. Do you know what I dont want to do on my day off?
SPEND THE WHOLE FUCKING DAY DOING SHIT THAT OTHER PEOPLE PLANNED FOR ME, WITHOUT SO MUCH AS FUCKING ASKING IF I WANTED TO DO IT.
Example: I have been working insane hours for the last month and half. On a good day, I only work about 12 hours. Bad day....16 of the most grueling hours you have ever experienced. So free time isnt something I get a lot of. I make time to go to the gym, but only because if I dont go semi-regularly, I tend to get sick a bit easier. If I dont have much time to relax, I cant afford to get sick.
So last week, I worked 6 days straight, averaging about 13 hours a day. So when sunday rolled around, I was looking forward to doing absolutely nothing. I get a text message shortly after I wake up that just says "Training at my house at 6".Its my buddy Jon, he trained me to do professional wrestling about 6 years ago. Well a few weeks ago, he wanted us to set up the ring in his back yard. So sunday, I guess I had been commanded to be at his house at 6 pm.
The only response that came to mind was FUCK OFF! Now if I had been asked,"are you available at 6 to train?" there is an excellent chance that my response wouldnt have been nearly as hostile. I still wouldnt have gone, but at least I would have respecfully declined, instead of wanting to rip someone's face off.
Here is me point. If you are going to want someone to do something on their day off, at least be polite enough to ask. A good rule of thumb is to ask yourself,"How hard does this person work?" because that will give you a good idea of how they want to spend their day off. If they work in an office, sitting behind a desk all day. They might want to do something.
If they work a heavy labor job, there is a very good chance that they just want to relax, maybe spend time with the family if they have one. If you know that I have been working 13 hour days for the last 6 week. And I just worked six days straight, in 102 degree heat, dont ask me for a damn thing. Just because I dont want to hurt you doesnt mean that I wont.
