UGH!! today was good but not good all in the same boat. I know, by past experiences, a bad day usually has to complete a cycle of 'events and triggers' before it would even out..
Well, today, I woke up early, looking forward to getting my screeching Honda Civ to the mechanic to fix and replace the brakes and whatever got ruined in 200 miles of driving on it from work yesterday. I mean, today was my day off, so I was definitely looking forward to getting it fixed, head to my uncles for help in straightening out an IRS error, and catching some friends I havent seen in a while out in DC. Wha'daya know, the mechanic wont be in until 10 - and wont get around to be able to see my car til 1. Ok..a couple hours more sleep, no problem. Woke up around noon and got ready to walk to my old bank thats about a block away to cash two checks. No good. Apparently, they switched management and now you cant cash it there unless 'current customer'. Before, I didnt matter, 2 forms of ID and ya' str8! So here I go taking my screecher 8 miles to my new bank. I practically 'LOVED' it.. the only thing louder was the hordes of "al-Cicadas" that are in almost every tree and leaf. My only comfort was knowing that today, its gonna be at the mechanics to get worked on. Poor drivers, everythings nice and fine until.."SCCURRRRRR!!" as I slow up to the intersection and grind to a halt. But the bank encounter was smooth, and Im on my way back to the other side of the city. LOL heres the fun part. The entire ordeal costed me an hour, and by the time I got there, someone took my 'slot'. So instead of waiting there and be out in a hour, Im now told 'we will call you'. With no way to get back, I strolled through Downtown on my walk back home. (yea I can walk the city like a day at the park no biggie).
It was packed, I loved it. Plenty of beautiful people. The sights and sounds of the water-traffic was 'refreshing', especially since I took some time to go up Federal Hill to overlook the Inner Harbor. I finished my soda and went amongst the crowd. Next stop, B&N, near the Aquarium. hehe WHY? Im a bit of a book worm, but balanced.. Im the guy everyone can count on KNOW what year some war started, but NOT know the answer to yesterdays physics exam. Yep yep, big history buff, or GEEK if ya wana be 'an ass' about it.
I updated my knowledge and after a couple hours, still no call about my car so I finally decided to hike my way to my house and wait there. I got back, and just started to relax when the phone rang. I almost felt lazy and was thinking "ok.. ill pick it up tonight.. its not going anywhere.. and IM not going anywhere".
Wasnt long before I was like "well, lemme see if I can still catch up with my friends".. I walked BACK to the other side of downtown, got my car and turned south.. to check the brakes right? WOOP WOOP... 52 on a 35.. but its a place where NOONE drives lower than 50.. not even old grannies. The cop's reason? "well, its holiday weekend and theres been higher cases of accidents and (blah blah blah)". Ok, by now, Im so out of it, I simply smile sarcastically and drive off - at 35. Almost had an accident right there!! for going TOO damn SLOW!! Didnt take long for me to actually hit RED and get pissed. so right after I did my turn and the cops disappeard at the horizon, I gunned it back to the residential area. Some shit, really!
LOL anyways, yea, I got back into the Inner Harbor, the brakes evened out, and I made my way to the front of the line at the worst time possible - full traffic, and an Ambulance coming up behind me! I had no choice but to run the red light, avoiding any traffic coming both ways so the medics can slide through and get to where theyre needed. "tell me that was not a camera that just flashed as I passed the white strip".. hmmph.. Im home now, and just gave up on doing anything.
Its funny, one day without my car, and chaos can stack against me like white on rice.
Well tomorrows a new day, I wonder whats in store.
