Yesterday I made plans to start a veggie garden in our backyard. I love the idea of having home grown healthy and inexpensive food. This morning I was making breakfast and as I looked out the window I saw a giant, I mean huuuuge cat sized groundhog lumbering by and looking for new plants to eat. This is going to be a problem. A groundhog would eat any baby plants as they sprout. So what do I do about this? Does my need for food trump his right to live? It also raises the question do the farmers that grow my grocery store food raise their crops without harming animals?

You just have to fence the garden including a way underground to keep him out. You can live with animals and have a garden it just takes some extra work and hardware.
