Yesterday was great. I took the train to Olvera street with my family and had a great lunch and listened to some good music.
My insurance won't cover a rehab, but I went to a detox center and even though I can't check in, they have meetings all day everyday.
I have talked to some of my friends and now know who I can count on.
It's still scary because I know I am on a "sober high".
Next week I have some side jobs lined up and an appointment with my Doc.
But insipte of the fear of the unkown, I have the reality of knowing that drinking is going to take me to an early grave. Oh yeah I got invited to go to spain for a month in '05 so I am craving information.

Glad to hear you're doing alright so far, hang in there. most people who get sober do so without treatment, so it's not a requirement by any means. There are other places besides the $15 grand hospital type. I went through the Salvation Army's program here in Vegas. Didn't cost a dime, they just put you to work during the day. I recomend that program highly. It's pretty hard to actually get in though, they want to be sure you want to get sober & not just need a place to stay or get the judge off your back. Just keep going to meetings & be sure to introduce yourself to folks there. If you've got any questions or just want to chat, drop me a message- Erik.
