Ok so I misquoted the paper. According to page 2A of the Wensday February 8, 2006, USA Today that my dad gave me in an article about how "young people" view race, "So does the fact that interracial marriages, though still not common, have increased from less than 1% of U.S. marriages in 1970 to almost 6% of marriages in the 2000 Census."

So less than 6% I apologize for the error on my behalf.

That totally blew my mind. Now I understand that similar people tend to congregate, but seriously less than 6%? I mean I come out of an interracial marriage, and depending on how you define race I'm currently in one. And my brother doesn't date lantina. Though unlike me he could and has passed himself off as white. A fair chunk of my parents friends of course has similar marriages. My sister in law is also soposed to be Hispanic (She doesn't speak Spanish and looks white to me, but her dad, certainly does speak Spanish and lives in Spain.) Two of my partners cousins also married exotic women, a Korean and an Armenian I think. It just seems weird to me that numbers on that are that low.

Any how so there's my rant about statistics found in the papers.
