i'm continually amazed by the brilliance of plants...they're so clever! as a form of life they are so adaptable and tough...their ability to proliferate is overwhelming. and to think how it all started with simple one celled organisms...and how it transformed into redwoods, into the sargasso sea.
and to drive from the country into a city wallowing in smog...is so terrible. i always think how trees are like the oxygen intake nodules in our lungs (like the surface of the earth is the inside lining of lung) and how sad it is to see them exisiting in such a harsh and unnatural medium. or to see mountain ridges denuded of greenery by the acidity of the rain... it's too tragic to articulate how in the last 200 years (how brief!) we've lost touch with the natural world...
