Bored in downtown Seattle today. What do y'all do when you're in the city? ARRR!!!

No new camera yet, but I'm sure thinking about it. I would like to "document" more of what I see day to day, just for fun. I took a photography class in high school, and I enjoyed it.

Unfortunately, my current digital camera is basically dead, and my camera phone is lousy.

Of course, there would be little point in replacing my camera if all...

You could always do like everyone else does: line up the vectors and take a shot of someone thinking. Whallah! Instant artiste. Especially if it's in black and white.

I have a new camera inbound. For now, this picture will have to do.

Been over a month since my last post. Let's update I guess:

Vacation in Irvine -- A friend and I went to see the King Tut exhibit at the LA County Museum (did the audio tour, too, was pretty neat). We also went to Magic Mountain. It was a Tuesday, so the lines were really short. That was a lot of fun.

We took the...

You know what I think would be neat? For those of us who'd like to buy products made in the US, or even made locally, I think it would be neat if Amazon had a search option that would limit results to a country or a region of the world. bok

I keep forgetting to write them down, and I have a terrible memory, but the most recent one was for a easy-to-set clock radio.

I've always hated setting the time on clock radios. There are some that will only let you set time ahead, so you have to go through 24 hours to subtract a few minutes. There are others that let you back up one second at a time. Then the one I have has 4 buttons for changing the time, and it has a date on it for some reason -- way too many buttons, way too complicated.

What about a clock radio, with a touchscreen displaying an analog clock, where you set the time by moving the hands with your finger. To set the alarm, you just press a button (on screen or an actual button) and set the time (the "alarm set" mode would have a timeout, and would return to the regular clock display). My current clock radio has a Indiglo backlight -- that's probably the one feature I like about it, and would carry over. My car stereo has something like 65535 background colors available -- that might be preferable as well, if it can be set up easily.

This might make the clock too complicated, but if you did add a calendar to it, you should be able to select what days of the week the alarm should go off. It'd be a simple 7 day calendar floating above the clock while in "alarm set" mode.

Ideally, the tuning would be digital as well.

Everything would be "one touch".

I could draw up the interface, I think, although it would look like a MS paint deal.

It'd probably be too expensive to be much more than a artsy demonstration model, unfortunately. ARRR!!!

I think its great idea, that way you can support a country of your choosing. smile

I didn't stay late today, but spending 8 hours in a heavily air conditioned NOC can really drain the life out of you. It's hard to keep hydrated when liquid beverages are not permitted.

'course, I say all that, and then I go home and do one of the worst things I can do, with regards to dehydration: I consume a bottle of wine. Heh....

Ugh. Long day at work today. Got in at 9, after an hour bus ride, and I just got home at 9, also after an hour bus ride. The reason I was so late coming home? Computers. Software. Hardware. It all completely and totally sucks.

I know it's easy to say "it sure was great in the old days". Nostalgia is powerful. But the old...

rephrased:
The good old days really WERE two years ago. In the mortgage industry, that's when rates were low, everyone was refinancing, and all you had to do was pick up the phone and grab a $3000 commission. Those were the days. Now business is down, regulation is up, jobs are out, and the honeymoon is over. frown But at least my new job brings me one step closer to nonprofit!
dpk:
Oh yeah. I dunno how I survived the "dot bomb", other than perhaps sheer dumb luck.

When you say closer to nonprofit, do you mean closer to a nonprofit job, or to being nonprofit personally? While they both have their appeals I do wonder which would be more rewarding.

I actually enjoyed some wine tonight. I've tried wine on many occasions but have not found one that I truly enjoyed. This one was actually quite pleasant.

It doesn't much matter what wine it was, since everyone has their own tastes. I was about to give up entirely, though, and just stick to beers and liquors.

Of course I'm still under its effects while posting...

hmmm... you're not a wine-o until you're drinking wine in a box sitting in your car, or on the front porch, and looking like a hobo while you do it wink

Boxed wine on the front porch you say... dare I live the dream?

I've got this "vision" stuck in my head. I can't get rid of it. I want to put it down on paper or in some paint program, but I can't get it right. I'm not sure the mediums can handle it.

I'm not artistic, or even creative (except when it comes to code), so this is a real challenge for me. I'll start drawing it...

My little grape vine is growing like mad. I haven't looked at it in weeks. It's that plant almost all the way right.

The apple tree is growing pretty well, too. At least, I think it's apple.

It's gonna be a fruity autumn I guess.

(By the way, that swingset came with the house. I have no interest in children or having them over to...

I've lost about 5 pounds in the last month and a half, primarily from changing how I eat, but also because of a total change of lifestyle. 5 pounds isn't much, and it's not like I needed to lose the weight, but I feel better, and I think I might look a little better. Still have a bit of a gut which I have no...
