Okay I've been pretty bad about updating my journal lately so I'm doing this one now even though I have nothing really important to say!
So anyway I've just proved to myself that I'm uselss at saving money! As I've just pre-ordered the following three limited edition Walt Disney Treasures DVDs...
Mickey Mouse in Living Color Volume Two: 1939 - Today
The Chronological Donald Volume One: 1934 - 1941
Walt Disney on the Front Lines: The War Years (1941 - 1945)
I've been reading up on the series and they seem really nice collections and prior to this new batch of four (there is another one coming out called "Tomorrow Land" - but as I know little about it and it's a TV show and not animated shorts I've left that one for now) there were seven others released over the last few years. Those older ones seem to be quite popular on eBay so as I've ordered these new ones for roughly 12.95 each I figure if I don't like them I can easily sell them on!
Of course I'll probably love them and end up paying through the nose for the ones I didn't bother getting at the time (Mickey Mouse B&W & Color Vol. 1, Goofy and Silly Symphonies, etc)!
So anyway with the three I've ordered I'll be getting six DVD's with roughly 100 uncut animated shorts from the thirties/forties (which is quite good as Disney had become quite the revisionist company and altered many of their earlier works or in the case of some, including the war cartoons, just swept them under the rug completely!)...
Plus with the Mickey one there should be a handful of recent ones (but his last true Disney short was back in 1953 with only a few new shorts being made in the last 50 years!). I'm hoping 1995's "Runaway Brain" is included as I kinda know the guy who directed it (Chris Bailey). He worked on Kevin Smith's Clerks cartoon several years later and I commissioned him to do some artwork for my collection (which is now one of my prized possessions)!
... Oh yeah and I'm a big fat nerd
