Well my grand plan for yesterday was to have a completely self-indulgent day alone...
The first day of a four-day weekend, I'd just been paid for the month and to be honest I really needed to chill out as I've been on the verge of going postal at work for some weeks now...
So anyway I got up around 9am yesterday (still tecnically a lie in but not late enough to waste the whole day in bed - which is pretty much what I've done today!) had a shower, washed my hair and enjoyed some french toast... mmmmm, eggy bread!
Then I basically slacked off for an hour or two checking e-mails and posting stuff here...
When I was good and ready I set off for Liverpool town centre where I proceded to have a look around some shops, pick up the last few weeks worth of comic books, have a quick pint and then went off to the 1pm showing of "Shaun of the Dead".
I won't ruin it for anyone but damn it was a good movie - I absolutely loved it and to be honest I can't wait to see it again (and I very rarely ever go see a movie twice in the cinema - in fact the last time I remember doing that was for David Lynch's "Lost Highway").
I also picked up a limited edition Doors CD from HMV that origianlly came out in 2000. I never bought it at the time because essentially I would only be getting it for four dodgy exclusive remixes but it was reduced from 17 to 7 so I decided it was worth a shot (it turned out, as I expected, to be pretty crap but I'm not going to lose any sleep over 7)! I also picked up the new issue of The Face to see the bit about our very own UK Suicide Girls... kinda disapointing as the girls only got two pages and the rest of the magazine is crap... but still it's nice to see them getting some national exposure... (ooo-er, missus )!
Later on I had a chinese and rented the last Coen Brothers movie "Intolerable Cruelty" which I somehow missed the first time around - it's not their best piece of work but that's probably because they originally wrote it with no intention of directing it themselves. But still it's very enjoyable and was better than I expected (as I'm not a big fan of Catherine Zeta Jones).
So anyway that was my self-indulgent day! And it worked as I do feel relaxed now... of course I'll be back in work on Tuesday so my peacefulness probably won't last too long!
