I just posted a quesion to the BME QOD. I am not certain they will reply, so I thought I might reproduce that question here in hopes of a responce.
This might be a bit long, I apologize in advance.
I've had some trouble for a few months with my two most recent cartilage piercings. Both formed abcesses when I had a bad cold in February(though I don't know if the cold had any causal relationship with the problems). Since then I've talked to several piercers- they give conflicting advice. One abcess went away after more frequent salt soaks and massaging the area with tea tree oil. The other has not changed. Today I got the advice of using premixed saline solution in a warm compress three times a day; I've also changed from a 14gbarbell(which was too short for my helix piercing) to a 14g ring that should allow for more draining/movement. What do you reccomend?
