Dinner was okay. All the sides came out fabulous, as did the mini cheesecakes. But the ham, well, it was ... eh. I made the mistake of trying out a new recipe this year. Never experiment with new shit when you have a major dinner planned. Or at least, not with the main course, anyway. Well, it was just the immediate family, so it wasn't a huge embarrassment or anything. Just a disappointment. Ah well. Just won't make ham that way again next time. I'll stick with my usual way of cooking it with brown sugar and maple syrup and cinnamon. Made sweet potatoes instead of yams this year. Next year I'll stick to yams as apparently the husband prefers those. Which is perfectly fine and he did eat the sweet potatoes no problem and pronounced them "good, just not as good as yams." Noted. The scalloped potatoes, however, were gobbled down quickly, as was the green bean casserole. Oh, and the cheese and garlic biscuits were a hit, too. So, yay.
Everything's wrapped and under the tree. Managed to make my four slankets for the chilluns. I hope they like them. Two t-shirts for the boys arrived today from my brother and his wife; I need to wrap them before their plane gets in. I miss my sons. I can't wait to see them tomorrow evening.

Hope you have a fantastic holiday.
How was the kids' Christmas?
