I was up at my father's on Monday and stopped to talk to my mother.

"Hey mom. Blue's really your color. And hey, you look like you've lost weight. Ah, but I see you're also wearing black, and that's very slimming." I put her box of ashes back in the blue bag and tied it up. We'll be scattering them at a later date, as yet undetermined.

Our family deals with grief in odd ways, I guess.

And yet, I miss my mom.
