Why can't my brain ever throw me a rope?


There is a community venue used for shows/poetry/meetings/whatever really which I attend fairly often. Mark was a staple here. He was always there for every show with his pup Sunshine. He would always greet everyone with a "How ya'll doing tonight?" he would wait for a reply then follow it with "Have any change you could spare?" I always gave him what I could. He was so kind and always the gentleman. He held doors for the bands and when he was in good health would offer to carry equipment for the bands. He never expected a thing but instead just enjoyed the nonjudgemental youth of the attendees. He always had a smile even in the past few months when his health was failing him. He passed away and his memorial is tomorrow. I am going. I'm not sure of his family situation but I can't bare the thought of all of us "kids" not being there to say goodbye.
I'll miss you Mark.
