I actually tend to agree with you about the John Doe solo stuff but that is one of two songs he has done that both stand with the best of X's catalog. Both of them are duets with cool girl singers too so you can imagine these tracks with Exene on them. The song I posted today he duets with Kathleen Edwards (who has a new album out tomorrow, BTW) and then also you check out a song called Hwy 5 with Neko Case where she sounds almost EXACTLY like Exene. Both of those songs are awesome.
