As the end of the end of the year approaches and the daylight is shorter I do not reflect on the New Year or the resolutions I would develop, those seem never to come to fruition, I contemplate on the things I was able to accomplish. Although this year has brought me experiences of loss and sadness, I do recall how my understanding has matured and how I have changed my thinking and how I have grown during the year.
My best friend Julio died at his prime leaving me to deal with the planet on my own. We set so many goals of traveling and conquering other lands and exploring places we only dreamed of in our youth and I will miss him. I also lost my godmother, who as my life trusted friend guided me through so many challenging experiences. She died only days before my friend. In the same week I also lost my uncle who reared me during my teens and from who I learned, for better or worse, what it is to be a man. My loyal friend and pet cat Sam was diagnosed with a heart condition last month and will live only a few more months. He sits here besides me as he has done all the six years of his life, his lost will be devastating to me. In the mist of all this, the most important accomplishment has been that I learned to move my thinking and behavior into a new paradigm. I have realized that even before I create new awareness of the conditions and direction of our world and developing a consciousness of global citizenship, I needed to change the way I processes things internally.
I have been hard at work removing myself from operating under rules of machismo for the last decade that has permeated our society. I am clear on what will transcend our present and future society in becoming the history makers that solve our global disastrous direction, and that is to become more human and operate gender free and thinking genderless when making policy, laws, rules and attempting to solve world crisis. Just removing my self from being a macho and respecting and valuing women does not make the necessary changes needed. What does brings me into a new and deeper view of life and the respect for the individual is; while viewing the world as borderless, and accepting we all share the same water, air and atmosphere is to view human life and individuals as living souls.
I do not to affirm my manhood by a show of strength and fear is not a sign of weakness, nor is power a sign of strength. So I do not need to react as a man or function as one any longer by the definitions set in my past. But I will see my self as a human being - a participant in society and behave, perform and operate as a concern global individual and see everyone as the same. This should end my participation and part in the process of de-humanizing others and trying to control the rest of the world for the sake of my own security. As the years follow I hope to further respect humanity in a way as it enhances the quality of life - not only in my land but in my world. My world is larger than my land and my land is in this world - along with the rest of humanity. Have a great holiday and a productive new year Un Abrazo MUAH!!!!!!!!!!
