I'm not sure why I painted this. I like The Munsters, but why paint it? Most people didn't even recognize it as Herman Munster (They call him "Frank").
Yesterday, a family came by the table. There were two boys, the younger kept pointing at the painting, yelling at his brother, "Look! Get it! It's perfect! Look at the purple, it's like a storm!" The older brother smiled politely, but the family kept moving on.
Later, the father came back to purchase the painting. He told me his older son was obsessed with The Munsters. He wakes up every morning and watches the show. He knows almost every line. He said that the icing on the cake was that his son's favorite color was purple. We completed the transaction, and I wished him well.
Sometimes in life you do things and you don't know why, but every now and then you get to see the fruits of those decisions.
Now I know why I painted Herman and it makes me happy to see that he's found the perfect home.
