Wow. It was a great weekend. I feel so fortunate to have been a part of this Premiere event. I met such wonderful people. It really revitalizes you when you see every single person that passes your table, smiling.
To see a community come out and fill the streets in support of the arts was incredible. And not just for one day. I saw some people 2 or 3 days in a row.
Kids were drawing in the street across from my table. Some were playing Giant Jenga and Connect Four games. The food was amazing!!! The beer was fantastic!!! I was set up across the street from the beer garden and one of the music venues. That music filled my ears with wonder and excitement.
On a personal note, I was humbled by the appreciation people showed for my artwork. I got to talk to people about my Lonely Robot and how that cats in my paintings are Jen and my actual cats. Other artists came by and showed me their work. I met this guy TJ who had the booth next to mine. He's an incredible photographer and a kind person. I know I'm rambling a bit, but I'm still processing this experience. Last year, I started painting as a way to cope with a bunch of extra time on my hands. I slowly started to reconnect with a part of my brain that I abandoned back in college.
I don't want this feeling to end.
Luckily, I've committed to having a table at Smithville Art Walk on September 10th. That means that I need to stop my rambling and get back to work.
Thank you.
