New year, new challenges... We decided not to move to Switzerland, simply because the money wasn't quite right. However, if the right opportunity presents itself, we are so outta here. It's not that I hate America, I've totally fallen in love with the bay area of California, but there's so much more out there that I'd love to explore. I recently stumbled across an online journal written by a girl who was my best friend when I was five. It was interesting to see how she had turned out. It was funny, we still had some things like our taste in tv shows and movies in common but it other ways, we are worlds apart. She had filled out one of those questionaire thingys about herself. One of the questions was something like, if you could live anywhere, where would it be. She said she was living where she wanted, which was where we both grew up and that she could never see herself living anywhere else. I found that bizarre, I mean where we grew up(Richmond, VA) was ok but there's no way I could see myself living there forever. My husband is from a small Texas town, and most of the people he went to school with are still there. It baffles him as well. Especially, since there is not a lot of potential to make a decent living there. The only logical reason, I can think of is that maybe they are just incredibly close to their families and enjoy the closeness of their oh so wonderful relationships. Yeah, well for once, I'm not the least bit jealous. The kindest thing I can say about my spouse's and my families are they best tolerated from a distance. And we're ok with that. Because it drove both of us to get out and explore, learn and see new things. So, yay for coming from a less than ideal family!
I joined the ranks of females that get their hair "done". My hair has best been described as unruly. I have never gone anywhere above a jc penney salon or a master cuts type place to get my hair cut. Finally, I let my friend take me to see her fave hairdresser and good friend. Her name is Jen , she works at Alchemy hair salon in the Willow Glen section of San Jose and she is a hair goddess. For the first time in my life, I love my hair. After buying product, tipping and getting my friend's discount, I spent around 200 dollars. Being a woman is fucking expensive!
