My favoos-
I love Chelsea Hightower, I think she's great. In past seasons most of the ballroom dancers have had a lot of trouble with the other genres, since ballroom is so upright and structured but she really rocked last weeks modern routine.
I think that she and Katee are the only two girls that hold a candle to the guys.
Katee has really surprised me. In the episode when they were announcing the final twenty and she was up there with her best friend (which I thought was pretty cruel), when she answered that she wouldn't audition again if she didn't make it she just seemed so negative. It really just made me not like her, and I expected her to be like that all the time. Kind of negative and snotty.
But really she's very bubbly, cheerful, cute, and likable. And very, very good.
As for the boys -
I loved Joshua from the moment I saw his first audition. When he did that split like... six feet up in the air I was like "WOW." I was laughing my ass off when they were talking all talking about how he couldn't just be a pop and locker, he's lying, obviously he's had much more training than that.
And he's CUTE AS A FRICKIN' BUTTON. He reminds me so much of Turk from Scrubs.
When I saw Mark's solo to Bohemian Rhapsody I fell in LOVE. It was ridiculous and amazing.I was like "why on earth is he in the group that they need to see more from? The must have just wanted to see him dance." When at the end they were like "It was unanimous, we all loved it" I was like UMM DUH. I was kind of worried he wouldn't make it into the top twenty because he didn't make it straight through, but I thought it was funny when they basically told him that his solo was what got him into the twenty.
Tonights dances-
Holy crap Joshua and Katee rocked it. When I heard they were doing a broadway routine I was kind of worried. My thought was "err, how is Joshua going to handle this?" But they were both FANTASTIC. The energy was absolutely incredible, holy crap it was fast, and they were so fricking cute. They blew it out of the water. They nailed it.
When the cameras panned over to the judges I "whoah"ed. I think that is the first time I have EVER seen Nigel get out of his seat, dance around, scream "NOW THAT'S WHAT IT'S ABOUT! THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR!" and talk out of turn. He was so fricking excited. And I watched every episode of the last two seasons.
Chelsea and Mark- Being a ballroom dancer, and doing the Argentine Tango, I thought Chelsea was going to outshine Mark - who I honestly did not expect to get this. I didn't think is awkward quirkiness would translate well to ballroom. But it turned out to be the other way around. While Chelsea was good, she is a wonderful ballroom dancer - one of the best that has ever been on the show, Mark was better. He really did look like a move star. He was poised, elegant, passionate, manly. He partnered beautifully, his lines were wonderful, and he was very graceful. I was completely shocked. (Also a lot of the time the "swishier" guys can't pull off the manliness, and passion which the judges always give them crap about. He did it very well. I don't know if he's gay, he could just be quirky.)
Twitch and Kerrington. Notoriously, the Viennese Waltz ends up being a huge let down. Pretty much every other time I have seen it done on the show it has been reviewed poorly, or really poorly. People just can't seem to get it right. This was beautiful though. Twitch shocked the hell out of me. I was so worried for him. I mean, it was a b-boy doing the frickin' waltz. But he was so beautiful and graceful for every second of it. Kerrington was stunning. The way she moved was so elegant.
Mia pissed the hell out of me when she told Kerrington that she shouldn't have been smiling so much. Come on now. The piece wasn't ABOUT his daughter, it was FOR his daughter. The entire point was that dance is one of the very few things that makes her happy, elicits a response from her. Being all serious and not smiling isn't going to achieve that. Shove a brick in it. I was so happy when Nigel called her out on it. I've never liked Mia though. I think she's really full of herself. And I have never really liked her routines, I think the other modern choreographers are better.
Mary and her obnoxious laugh, screaming, hot tamale train, gaudy cleavage baring tops and florescent orange fake tan amuse the bejesus out of me.
