I'm glad comments are working on sets again now! And that my set is finally in order. It is just my luck that when I posted my self-shot set for the contest there was a bug causing comments not to save and people not to be able to re-order their sets.
A reminder: if you commented on my set within the first three or four hours after it was put up, please go check and see if your comment is actually there. I would really appreciate it.
For those of you who have yet to check it out - my just under the wire entry for the March self shot contest
DominaNefret - Becoming Ophelia
It just so happens to be my first ever attempt at a self shot set, I know it isn't perfect, but I'm pretty damned proud of it.
Someone tagged it "Bible Verses" (which I erased, for obvious reasons). You would think it would be fairly obvious to people that with a set title such as "Playing Ophelia", and a bathtub theme, that the quotes in the set are in fact lines from Hamlet.
The word "Lord" in those lines is a royal title, not a reference to god.
Sigh.

I found a college I want to go to. Prescott University, in Prescott Arizona.
I am interested enough in it that I am probably even applying for fall semester. They have rolling admissions so that I can literally apply until August 15th, but the priority deadline is this coming Tuesday. I am going to call the admissions counselor during my break between classes tomorrow and see how important it really is to apply before that priority deadline. If she thinks it is, I'll go ahead and rush in an application. Oh the joys of applying online.
Since it is important to see the school, and the area before I make my final decision, my mom is flying Shawn and I out there some time in April. Shawn is coming too for several reasons - A. If I transfer to the school he will be moving with me, therefor he deserves to see what the area is like ahead to time, so he knows if he will like it or not. B. I am not yet old enough to rent a car. The Phoenix airport is 100 miles from Prescott. Without Shawn to rent I car I would have to take a shuttle from Phoenix to Prescott, then walk and take Taxis the entire time I am in the (small) city.
Shawn's birthday is April 4th, and our 1 year anniversary is the 9th. So my mom and I decided that our combined presents to him would be his plane ticket out there, and whatever he needs while on the trip.
This school seems so cool though.
*They have a really individualized approach, where you pretty much create your own degree. So I could concentrate on both Creative Writing and Anthropology, without having to be limited to one or the other.
*There is a month long wilderness orientation, where you first spend a week at a retreat center meeting people, doing the beginning academic orientation, etc, then you spend three weeks backpacking in somewhere like the Grand Canyon. Learning nature and survival skills, all the while having the orientation and introduction to the school.
*You don't get grades on your class work, unless you ask for them. Instead you get a detailed performance evaluation combining a self evaluation and faculty evaluations.
*They have an ADVENTURE EDUCATION program. That isn't what I'll be doing, but I think that's so freaking cool. I mean, seriously. Adventure education.
I really want to go to this school.
Also, it's in the Arizona High Desert. Which I love. I think it is so absolutely, breathtakingly beautiful out there. The red rocks are just stunning.
And I love the weather. Hot, without getting too hot. Dry heat. Cool in the winter, without getting too cold.
