Tonight is Weezer at the Municipal Auditorium. Ben Folds opens for them, so I hope it will be a great show. I've never been to a concert at Municipal. Then, when it's over, we're going to visit the Hustler Hollywood store and then eat stuffed french toast and strawberries at IHOP. A good night is in store, I can feel it.
Been downloading music all day- Seether and Tegan and Sara mostly, with a few random songs in between. Suggestions to expand my music library are welcome and encouraged.
I knocked the fuck out of my knee the other day- I hit it on the coffee table. A seemingly impossible task, seeing that I hit the inside of the leg furthest away from the coffee table at the time. I hit it so hard I not only moved the table, but knocked this huge wrought iron and glass candle holder arrangement OFF the table. I think there may be some fluid settling on the side of my knee, as it's incredibly painful but NOT bruised. It hurts to sleep with that side of my knee facing into the mattress, it hurts to wear pants...it hurts sitting here indian-style typing this.
I also had to take a break from devouring the new Harry Potter. JP picked it up and I have yet to wrestle it out of his posession. This isn't an entirely BAD thing, per se. Remember in my last journal entry I said that I almost didn't want to finish it right away, because the wait would be so long for the next book? Well, if he reads it first, and he's not a really FAST reader, then he'll be finished with it around the time I begin school again, causing me to read more slowly. Then, by the time I finish it, there should at least be another movie out or something to tide me over. (Yes, I know, I'm an incredible dork for putting SO MUCH thought into this.)
Among other things going on, yesterday was one of those days that made me truly dislike my job. I don't have those days often, because for the most part, I thoroughly enjoy chasing shoplifters. However, yesterday...I'm afraid I may have cost my boss his job yesterday. We were watching this shoplifter for three hours- she and a friend hid a cart full of merchandise, then left for a while. They came back, and she went into a fitting room and put some of it in her purse and the rest of it under her shirt and in her pants. It was incredibly obvious that she had it all, because it was visible under her clothing. She walked around the store for another thirty minutes or so, with a shirt over her midsection, hiding the bulges. She kept going in and out of fitting rooms, stuffing more clothing. The last time she did it, when she came back out, a couple of the bulges under her clothes were gone. Her purse was a little smaller, but not empty looking like it was when she first came in. She exited the store, and I gave my boss the green light to stop her. He did. And she ended up ditching ALL the stuff in the fitting room and right by the door. He was already outside and I couldn't see what she was doing right by the door on the camera.
Ideally, when there is ANY doubt, we call off the stop. This one was different, because I still thought she at least had some of the stuff- she picked up almost $1000 worth of merchandise and worked HARD to get it...normally, even if they get spooked, they still try to leave with at least SOMETHING to show for their work.
Well, now she's threatening a lawsuit. I doubt anything will come of it, because we told her what we'd seen her do, and we heard over the radio she had three other stashes at three other stores, so we called her out on that, too. She looked surprised that we knew EXACTLY what she'd tried to take, so I think she may let it go. However, in the event that she DOES bring a lawsuit against us, my boss will lose his job. He keeps telling me it's not my fault, that he was watching her too and still stopped her, but I still feel bad about it all. I had a teeny tiny bit of doubt, but I still gave him the go ahead, when I knew I didn't have a clear view of what she was doing. I know I can't beat myself up over it, but still, it really bothers me that this has the potential to cost someone who is REALLY good his job.
So, how are you guys?
Thanks for keeping me sane.

Sounds like she was baiting you into a law suit. Save the tapes and demonstrate that you followed procedure and this was obviously a rouse to cry descrimination. He will be fine. If not, ask for his job
