I saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory tonight, and I must admit it was everything I was hoping it would be and then some. I cannot put into words the brilliance that was this film. It's much truer to the book, due much to Tim Burton's imagination. Johnny Depp is a perfect Willy Wonka...eccentric, odd, and definitively weird. It isn't often that movies even meet my expectations, but this one...this one exceeded my expectations. It was absolutely wonderful.
I also decided tonight that Johnny Depp is my "one". JP and I have this thing where we can pick one celebrity (music, movies, art, sports, whatever) to have, in the near impossibility that the opportunity would arrise, a one night stand, no strings attached- a "freebie" if you will with no relationship consequences. He'd definitely be my choice. I just think that a man with such intense creativity and passion for what he does (which is evident in all his work, would be incredible in bed. JP has yet to decide who his "one" would be...though he did admit Johnny Depp would be his if he were gay. I have good taste, what can I say?
The new Harry Potter is also turning out to be quite delicious, though I've not logged nearly as much reading time in as I would have hoped by now...due much in part to the fact that I am sharing it with JP at the moment. We've literally been taking turns all day reading it. I almost hate the idea of finishing it, because I know it will be such a long time until the next book is released...it's even going to be a while before the next movie is released.
Oh well, it's late, and I'm quite tired...it's off to sleep- which I'm sure will be complete with chocolate covered, oompa loompa filled dreams. Tomorrow plans include the following: reading Harry Potter, getting a pedicure, and watching Wedding Crashers with my honey.
Now that the countdown to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is over, the next movie to take the "Oh my god, I can't wait to see that" distinction is none other than Tim Burton's Corpse Bride. What can I say? I'm a nerd like that.
