SG: Your mission...should you choose to accept it:
My 13 year old cousin, the one I've mentioned in previous entries, has pretty decent taste in music. However, she has petitioned ME, in all my older, wiser musical background, to introduce her to music she may not previously have heard.
I'm currently in the process of making her a small library of mix cds, including everything from pot smoking hippie OAR and Jack Johnson, to goth kid Rob Zombie, and stopping nowhere in between.
Here is where you come in...
One of the reasons I remain on SG is because I have such varied friends here...friends who listen to all the music under the sun and could help me formulate the musical tastes of said cousin for the rest of her existence. I am afraid that there will be some musical influence I may overlook in my compilations, and I'd like you all to make sure that no stone is unturned.
I'm looking for anything from 1990's to present, in genres including: folk, rock, hard rock, metal, industrial, and acoustic.
Any suggestions, including one hit wonders and obscure bands that may not be anywhere but underground (as long as music is downloadable) will be much appreciated.
Help me mold a 13 year old's mind.
This message will self destruct in 30 seconds, unless I get suggestions, STAT!!

Other recommendations:
Belle and Sebastian
Flogging Molly (Sometimes listed as "folk" genere, which trips me out)
Meat Puppets (particularly off Too High To Die)
The Flaming Lips (most recent album)
I've never met a 13 year old who did not like They Might Be Giants
Since it's just a little one, why not introduce to the glory of people like George Clinton, etc?
